The Ulu Klang Recreational Club's (UKRC) 11th UKRC-Astro International Soccer 9's came to a thrilling end with Indonesia's Pertamina Albatross emerging overall champions with a 4-3 win over Brunei Veterans.

The 10th UKRC-astro International Soccer 9's 2010 was held on 9-10 October 2010. The participating teams were Gold Coast Koalas, Kurnia Medan City FC, Prince Songkla University, Singapore Recreation Club, Referees Association Singapore, Black Eagle FC, Penang Sports Club, Chinese Recreation Club, Taiping, The Malacca Club, Melodi Jaya FC, Uniplast FC and host UKRC.

The opening of the 10th UKRC-astro International Soccer 9's 2010 was done by Hulu Kelang state assemblyman, YB Saari Sungib.

The Trophy event was won by Kurnia Medan City FC from Indonesia while the Plate event was won by Referees Association from Singapore.

UKRC would like to thanks all the participating teams, sponsors, organising committee and volunteers in making this event a successful ones.

The fellowship match with Seremban Veterans FC was held on 14th Aug 2010 in Seremban. Seremban Veterans FC was trailing 1-3 at one stage but they came back strongly and managed to level the score at 3-3 at the end of the match. After the match, UKRC were being treated to a dinner by the host whereby both sides exchange souvenirs.

UKRC would like to say " A Big Thank You" to Seremban Veterans FC in hosting us.

Little League Soccer emerged triumphant at the 2nd UKRC Under-12 Football 7s at the Ulu Klang Recreational Club in a successful conclusion to the 12-team tournament on Sunday, 6 June 2010.

Ben Howard scored the only goal of the final in the first half to deny debutants Jasmine Putra United and simultaneously emerged tournament top scorer for the second straight year with three goals.

Hosts UKRC Reds did not go away disappointed when they won the plate final by beating First Touch Assumption 1-0 while Bintang Biru went home with the Fairplay Trophy.

Next year, we plan to go international and invite more teams to take part. We will have to schedule the tournament at another time so as not to clash with examinations, which was the reason why international teams could not come this year.

If there is one team that UKRC were to pick to play in any friendship competition, it would certainly be OPERA BDC, Singapore. The team lead by R.Jega, a die hard Spurs fan, were hosted by UKRC for a friendly football match at UKRC on 29 May 2010. UKRC defeated Opera BDFC 3-0 in a wet pitch as most of the Opera players leg were begging for a slow pace.

However, the result of the match did not damper the Opera members from having a good time at UKRC, where members were treated to a dinner that included exotic food and drinks after match and a long session of karaoke and comedy acts by the Opera members that kept all UKRC members in stitches all night .

What a wonderful night and good show off the pitch guys.

The UKRC Junior football players had a fun day in competing among themselves in the UKRC Internal Junior Football competition held on 16 May 2010 at UKRC ground.

The boys whom are all from the UKRC Junior Football Academy, were divided into 2 groups of 4 teams which consist of 5-8 years and 9-12 years old. Each team were named after a country in fever of the coming FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The boys, mostly whom have been with the Academy for more than 3 years, truly displayed their skills during the competition and hats off to them for the great sportsmanship and dedication shown during the game.

In the under 8 years category, Portugal outclassed Italy 5-1 with the Best Player award won by Irfan Faiz of Portugal.

Meanwhile in the Under 12 category, France defeated England 2-0 in penalty kicks after a tie of 1-1 during the full time match.

The Best Player award for the Under 12 category was won by Mohd.Danial Adzrin.

The competition saw over than 100 children taking part with their parents supporting them under the morning sun blaze.

It was a successful internal competition which saw the children being serious and commited during all matches besides giving opportunity to all the children in the Academy to take part in the competition, said Jeffrey Lau, Secretary of the UKRC Junior Football Academy.

WELL DONE BOYS

UKRC internal fellowship soccer competition for its soccer members were held on 1 st May 2010.

The response from members was fantastic, as 8 teams were formed to be divided into 2 groups. Among the groups were the Under 17 boys of the UKRC Junior Soccer Academy and the ever committed parents of the Juniors whom managed to form 2 teams for the competition.

The competition, an annual affair is to foster greater fellowship among active and spirited Soccer members of the Club and also providing the opportunity to members whom were not selected to participate in external tournament, the feel and what is like in playing a soccer competition through the burning sun.

The competition which started at about 12 noon ended at late evening and overall members enjoyed the competition although some players had suffered dehydration, as the thought they were fit enough while some encountered depression symptoms due to their high expectation in trying to defeat a high spirited team.

The Champion of the competition were UKRC A, whom also call themselves as “High Spirit” as majority of the team members are known to be very spiritual at the club during the evenings, defeating UKRC C, 4-1.
